Welcome to the Homepage of the Alliance for Democracy in Africa (ADA)

Based in The Gambia, the Alliance for Democracy in Africa (ADA) is an independent nonprofit, nongovernmental, tax exempt 501(c)(3) membership organization that is dedicated to promoting democracy by encouraging Africans, particularly women and children, to internalize and practise democratic values in their societies. The organization was founded in May 2000 and opened a West Africa Regional Office in The Gambia in June 2001.

ALLIANCE FOR DEMOCRACY IN AFRICA We are proud to announce the beginning of a fruitful relationship between ADA and the AsiaEurope Football Academy of The Gambia. The picture below shows the talented young players at a match earlier this year. ************************ Check our Recent Events page to read about the establishment of the Nima Gibba Centre for Women and Youth Development in Ferato Village, as well as a ceremony held in honour of Prof Emil Nagengast, his son Otto, and students of Juniata College (USA) who donated footballs and football gear to students, and sewing machines to women's groups during a recent visit to The Gambia. We are excited to announce the opening of a branch of ADA in Conakry, Guinea. Registration documents have been signed and the opening ceremony will take place very soon.
